Our Story
Sharing Warmth Across Central Kentucky Since 2000
Brion Barnhill founded Barnhill Chimney Company in 2000 and started providing chimney sweeping and maintenance as well as installation of hearth appliances and masonry repair across Central Kentucky. For Brion, chimneys have been surprising and full of adventure. In 2015, Animal Planet's "Treehouse Masters" featured Barnhill Chimney in an episode after asking the company to install a woodstove in one of its magnificent luxury treehouses.
Although the Barnhill Chimney team has grown over the years, and is no longer just Brion and Aero riding in the van, we still have the same mission: share warmth and spark joy across the state. Our team is dedicated to providing the highest quality service—and it shows, with over 1,500 five-star Google reviews from clients we've been able to serve.

Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I have my chimney cleaned?
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommends annual chimney inspections and cleanings. If you burn wood regularly, creosote buildup can become a fire hazard in as little as one season. Even gas fireplaces should be inspected annually to check for blockages and carbon monoxide risks.
What are the different levels of chimney inspection?
Level 1 is a visual inspection of accessible areas—recommended for annual maintenance. Level 2 includes video scanning of the flue interior and is required when buying or selling a home, changing fuel types, or after a chimney fire. Level 3 involves partial removal of building components and is only needed when serious structural damage is suspected.
How do I know if my chimney has water damage?
Common signs include water stains on the ceiling or walls near your chimney, a musty odor from the fireplace, white staining (efflorescence) on exterior brickwork, crumbling mortar joints, or a rusted damper. If you notice any of these, schedule an inspection—water damage only gets worse with time.
Do you service gas fireplaces too?
Absolutely. We service, install, and maintain all types of hearth appliances—gas, wood, and electric. Whether you need a new gas fireplace installed or your existing unit serviced, our NFI-certified technicians have you covered.
