Waterproofing
Chimney Saver (Siloxane): 3-YEAR WARRANTY
ChimneySaver Water Repellent, the first product developed specifically for chimneys, has been used successfully by leading chimney professionals for nearly 20 years. It reduces water penetration into the masonry by 99.9%, according to ASTM tests conducted at the University of Wyoming.
Moisture from a variety of sources is always present in masonry and concrete. Sealers and silicone coatings (commonly sold at hardware stores) form a water resistant surface film which trap water vapors inside. If these vapors cannot escape from the masonry, they will contribute to spalling, scaling, deterioration, and freeze-thaw damage. ChimneySaver is 100% vapor permeable – a non-film-forming water repellent that penetrates and lines masonry pores.
Barnhill Chimney Company provides a 3-year warranty on workmanship/application for ChimneySaver water repellent. At our discretion we will reapply the waterproofing or refund the purchase price.
This warranty protects against defects in installation, materials, and workmanship only. It does not cover damage due to storms, lightning, earthquakes, settling, and similar factors.
“PPK”: 10-YEAR WARRANTY
Bricks treated with “PPK” breathable waterproofing. Water beads right up!
“PPK” professional-grade waterproofing, made by Professional Products of Kansas, is a powerful tool in the battle against water entry. It is sprayed on in liquid form, and doesn’t just coat the masonry, it sinks in. Once inside the masonry it slowly becomes a solid again — one which allows the chimney to “breathe”, causes water to bead on the surface of the bricks, and can even bond together deteriorating masonry to prolong chimney life.
Unlike siloxane-based waterproofers, which typically last 2-4 years in Kentucky’s ever-changing weather, this amazing waterproofing compound comes with a 10-year warranty on application backed by Barnhill Chimney Company. At our discretion we will reapply the waterproofing or refund the purchase price.
